my sisters watched Hook so many times one summer that when we moved the following summer, my dad made sure it got lost! (he didn't actually throw it out--just ensured they wouldn't be able to find it!)

Ha! We have things, too that seem to be misplaced for a period of time...

We drove from Cincinnati to Sarasota every summer and Ramona Quimby was a constant in the tape deck. I recently read the books out loud to my 8 year old and while nursing the baby and could hear Stockard’s voice so clearly.

Can’t wait to get the book on care. I heard an interview with Stephen Pinker who pondered that we will have to figure out something for humans to do when AI takes over. CAREGIVING!!!!! Is what I shouted out loud my phone.

What a lovely memory. And I hope you enjoy the book. And YES, Caregiving can not be done by AI! We have a lot of blind spots around care.

Thank you so much for mentioning my essay! And I love that you watched Hook on VHS. Sounds like for your vacation you traveled back to my childhood, complete with madlibs (which I can’t seem to get even my 12 year old excited about)

It was a little weird how much a throwback vacation it was. My grandmother had a cabin on a lake, so it stirred up many childhood memories. And so happy to share your essay, it's wonderful.

The days are flying by! Summer is so short these days. Thanks for another great roundup!

Our summer treat was having a screen at the group campsite and getting to watch Coraline with our friends. Especially nice on a night with a red flag warning, so no campfire.

A phone from the olden days? Leave it to kids to make you feel ancient! And thank you for the toy ideas. We have some travel coming up in a few months and I could use all the travel-friendly toy ideas!

Mad Libs on vacations are the BEST. Love so many of these recommendations!

Thank you! I am a big Mad Libs fan, I have fond memories of doing them with my brother on vacation and then getting in trouble because we were laughing too loud. We even made a Mad Libs story at our wedding for our guests. I am so glad that my kids also enjoy them.
